Getting started
Sign in with your Google account from the homepage, then open a Google Drive folder from your dashboard to run your first scan for duplicates, or to see Organise's folder recommendations for loose files. No setup beyond signing in is required.
Scanning your Drive
Duplicate Killer scans a Drive folder tree you choose and groups files that share the same size and Google-provided MD5 checksum - an exact-match signal, not a similarity guess. Google-native Docs, Sheets, and Slides do not have an MD5 checksum, so they are counted but not grouped as duplicates today.
Understanding results
Each duplicate group shows every exact copy found, with one file suggested as the "keeper" (usually the oldest copy). The suggestion is guidance only - you choose which copies to keep and which to send to Trash.
Removing duplicates
Select the duplicate copies you want removed, then confirm in Duplicate Killer. This moves the selected copies to Google Drive Trash - never a permanent delete.
Organising loose files
Duplicate Killer can also recommend existing Drive folders for loose files sitting outside any matching folder, based on filenames and folder names - not file contents. Review the recommendations, choose which files to move, and confirm. If Google hasn't yet authorized a selected file for Duplicate Killer, Google will show its own confirmation prompt for that specific file before the move can happen. Organise moves can be undone.
Restoring files
Files moved to Trash remain in your Google Drive and follow Google's own Trash retention and restore rules. You can restore a file directly from Google Drive's Trash at any time, the same way you would restore any other trashed Drive file.
Troubleshooting
If a scan seems incomplete, confirm the folder still exists and that you granted Drive access during sign in. If an Organise move doesn't proceed, make sure you completed Google's file-access confirmation if it was shown - Duplicate Killer cannot move a file that confirmation didn't authorize.
